I would say that freedom, for me, is being able to choose the way you want to live, what to eat, who to love, where and how to live, what to wear, where to go, how to look, what to believe, being able to speak your mind without being afraid of getting harmed, even being able to choose when and how to die. I think that freedom is a utopy and regardless of how much power, money someone might have or how simple anyone’s life is, nobody is 100% free in this world. We all must comply with certain social rules in order to benefit from the goods and assets that the system provides, even if we don’t want to be part of it, we’re all prisoners.
Well, where should I begin……?
Is it even necessary to be part of a religion for being spiritual or just believe in doing good?
Does religious power on humanity have any limits?
Aren’t governments leaders the “fathers of the nation” they represent? Isn’t a good father supposed to take care of his family? Aren’t good fathers in charge of making the decisions that will produce a general benefit in their loved ones lives? If your child is sick, should’t you take all necessary meassures to help your child get well? Unless, you’re not a good father, and just let your child die because he/she is affraid of getting the medicine. There is a good reason why parents are the tutors of children, and not the other way around. Or doesn’t an adult know better than a child?
So, my point is, how far will countries leaders allow religious leaders to manage a public health situation? If I have a house where I hire a cook, a gardener, a maid, a driver, a nanny and a guard, I won’t allow the gardener to decide if my child should be driven to school today or not, the same way I wouldn’t allow the guard to cook my lunch, or the cook to plant a mango tree in my backyard. Here we say “zapatero, a tu zapato”. Let religious leaders mind their business, and let the specialists take care of the public health situation going on in the world, that’s the governments jobs, not some dude’s that tells women they will go to hell if they wear make up, high heels, blue jeans, short hair, shave their legs….
The fathers of the nation should act as responsible fathers and take care of their spoiled, misinformed, children (society) and take the necessary actions to protect them, because as any other child who is confused and scared may be a victim of a delinquent who’s taking advantage of the child’s lack of understanding and preparation for a situation like this, society is also victim of predators seeking their own benefit at the expense of those misinformed and scared people. It’s like throwing a life-jacket to a kid floating in a bath tube and it turns out the guy who threw the life jacket will just asault the kid, the kid’s just scared because his/her feet don’t touch the ground, but the “savior” was much worst than the unsurpassed fear of trying to get out by his own.
Can people just medidate for a moment and analyze why shouldn’t they follow the over-confirmed, verified, evaluated and tested recommendations from scientists experts on the matter, and instead they blindly trust a guy that stands on a podium yelling for 1 hour and all he’s done is read the sacred book for a living? Has this person any scientist knowledge to tell you with bases what’s good for your health? Why should you choose to die instead of being alive? Can they at least watch the news? Specifically search for the pandora papers list and see how many religious leaders have this vulgarly ostentetious life paid by their congregation and these can’t even afford a gas tank?
A colleague resigned from her +11 years beloved and well paid job because her religious leader told her not to get the covid vaccine, and is now mandatory for that staff.
Is her religious leader going to support her dependents? Bring food to their table everyday now that she (the only support of that family) is out of job? Take her family to the doctor and pay for everything? Pay basic services in that house? Clothe them? Etc…
Stop living your lives to satisfy others, THINK of what’s best for you and your loved ones, please wear masks and get vaccinated, for the greater good of all human kind, don’t make the rich religiuos leaders richer, you’ll just get poorer and less free, or worst you’ll end up killing your loved ones and dying for believing all kinds of nonesenses that those commerciants of faith tell.
I hope all religions disappear in the future and we just teach children to be good without fear of a tyran watching over them waiting for the moment to punish them.
Why tattoos are often related to sex? You look for any particular style and as soon as you start looking, you will start finding breasts with tattoos, butts with tattoos, women showing different body parts where they have tattoos.
There’s a song that I heard a couple of months ago that says “does sex even sell anymore? I feel like I’ve seen it all, or maybe I’m just old” (Ordinary Pleassure, Toro y Moi).
Men have tattoos too, elder people do too, there are so many cultures around the world that have tattoos as a representation of something important, they’re a sign of respect and appreciation.
Maybe as the song says “I’m just old”, but I consider decadent that whatever websearch you do, the first thing you will find are breasts and butts. Shampoo? Yes, there’s a woman taking a shower. Toothpaste? Of course, only women brush their teeth. Something to help you poop? Yeah, only women poop…. and so on…..
I remember talking to a friend 2 years ago, he used to tell me everything I wanted was utopic, and could never be real. We should just work with what we have, be resilient, adapt and overcome, etc. I often think that our world, far from being utopic, is becoming more and more dystopic.

Yesterday I received 2 memes in whatsapp as a reminder of what’s happening in my country. I recognize that I’ve been blind and deaf the last few weeks, partly because I started a relationship that, of course consumes much of my free time, but also I have been feeling so disappointed of this circus that our politicians never get tired of.
Even if these elections are not legit, wouldn’t be more credible if we protest after having lost the elections as one single party where all of us know by heart that it represents 80% of Nicaraguans and all of us voted for it? Could we even get some serious consideration internationally if the so called opposition is divided in 3 or 4 parties? What are they going to say? We can’t even get to an agreement ourselves, how are we going to handle the administration of a country with 6 million people who have different ideals?
All I can say is that, it looks like we can thank Ms. Kitty Monterrey for stealing away our youth’s hopes. So, thank you, Kitty.
Mientras más se acercan “las elecciones” en Nicaragua, más decepcionada me siento. Casualmente repasando La Mujer Habitada de Gioconda Belli, me pregunto por qué no hemos sido capaces de salir del mismo ciclo enfermizo de la política cochina de este país?
Pasamos años siendo un país dizque democrático / de derecha alternante entre Conservadores y Liberales, hasta que surgió el Sandinismo. Y ahora más de lo mismo, izquierda contra derecha. Cómo es posible que no pueda surgir un grupo centrista? Que aglomere ideas progres, de izquierda y derecha. Quisiera poder sentirme representada por algún grupo de jóvenes que igual que yo, estén hartos de ver repetirse la misma historia por los siglos de los siglos en Nicaragua.
Tal vez estoy contagiada de decepciones comunes de tanto leer. Hace poco terminé Las Venas Abiertas de América Latina de Eduardo Galeano y el año pasado como por cuarta vez el Popol Vuh…
En fin, espero seguir viva para cuando se de el cambio en mi país. Aunque seguramente muchos abuelos se han muerto esperando lo mismo.
Everybody seems more worried about who will be the presidential candidate, than for the different sufferings all over the country. We have peasants being chased by the military, just because they represent the opposition or are related to an opponent who is either in prison, or was already killed by the government. We have political prisoners who are victims of fraudulent processes to keep them in prison. We have basic services among other household expenses, more and more expensive every month. Nobody is allowed to complain. Strikes are a myth since 2018. No sector, group or even a single person can protest without being captured, harassed, or worse. Even journalists are being constantly harassed, nobody can denounce anything anymore.
But the “opposition” is more interested in fighting each other because all of them want to be “presidents”. Who are they kidding? We all know there will be no fair election process. We all know what’s going to happen: exactly what happened in Venezuela. So why even bother to follow or support any of these leaders who are supposedly representing all the opposition against the regime, when all they have shown so far is that they are no different than the current government? They can’t even agree among themselves. All they care about is their own personal gain. What do they get from this? Is their benefit aligned with the country’s overall sociopolitical / economic improvement? What do WE as population get from them?
I’m tired of all this, I feel like a slave dressed up as a clown, working unpaid for a circus where nobody goes.
So, I’ve been trying to make extra money in these companies that pay you for taking surveys, testing products, etc. And it’s been impossible. Why? Because my country is not considered for this simple task. Why? Because no important company using this service seems to care about what a poor country citizen thinks.
And I remembered something I read about, that said that the poor countries continue to be poor because the rich countries don’t give them opportunities to stop being poor.
There’s this book I read by Eduardo Galeano “The open veins of Latin America”, that explains why the rich will always be rich, and us will always be poor.
Anyway, just wanted to get it out of my forever poor system. I’m resigned now, and understand that the opportunities for priviledged humans don’t consider the poor. I understand now I will have to follow the standard conventional / traditional way that all slaves in the corporate world follow. No “other income” opportunity for me.
When I was little, the popular story was that different liberal and conservative parties got together to run in the presidential elections in 1989 because they knew that unification would be the only way to defeat the sandinista government, which was a left-wing party. Of course there were sacrifices, people had to step back and adopt a selfless attitude, to get to a consent and chose a candidate that represented all the parties involved.
Today, Nicaragua should be doing the same. But, what are we seeing? There are 4 presidential candidates from the opposition. How come these groups cannot achieve that unification that our country needs right now, the one our parents witnessed 30 years ago? All of them want to be presidents, no one wants to give up the title. Greed is ruining our opportunity to get rid of this dictatorship.
So, as usual, while reading the news, I found this article explaining why the COVID vaccine is only available for rich countries, and the poor countries will have to wait until 2022-23 to be able to obtain the vaccine. Why? Because of the same reason as it has always been in the human history: only the wealthy matters, the poor does not.
In other news, reminding a bit of the Sick Sad World in Daria’s…. how come all white trash can get into the capitol, armed, and destroying private property, stealing, punching, shooting up people and everything, and they are just peacefully escorted outside?
But in what universe would something like that happen if the riot was of black people? Let’s leave the black people alone…. what if was a muslim mob? What if they were gay? Chinese? Latin?
It’s the same old sh*t. F*cking white supremacy. They call themselves conservative and all they are is a bunch of ignorant haters.
I just hope the meteorite crashes on Earth ASAP and all the suffering ends once and for all. I’m sick of all this same sh*t repeating over and over, all over the world.
